After seven years of steady increases in sales of electronic books and portable digital reading devices—with corollary decreases in the print marketplace—paper experienced a remarkable turnaround in 2015. Last year was supposed to mark the first in which e-book sales overtook print, but instead, digital sales have slowed, with an interest in paper robust enough to prompt publisher Hachette to add more than 200.000 square feet to its Indiana warehouse, while Simon & Schuster expanded its distribution facility in New Jersey by a similar dimension.
