Ron Silver Died

Ron Silver died. That sucks. I was always a fan. I just saw him on TV a couple of weeks ago in that Spike Lee movie, “Girl 6” playing the sleezy casting agent. You didn’t have to be watching to know it was him because he had that beautiful accent that just smelled New York.  Though I pretty much loved him in everything I saw him in, two of my favorite parts that he played were Eugene Hunt, in Kathryn Bigelow’s “Blue Steel” and later Bruno Gianelli in “West Wing”.
I didn’t know Ron Silver as a person but he seemed like the kinda guy you wouldn’t mind sitting down and having coffee with while he bent your ear about whatever his latest cause was. I’m gonna miss Ron Silver. RIP.

So after I made this post, I found out that Altovise Davis died. See below.

The late performer Sammy Davis Jr.‘s third wife, singer and actress Altovise Davis has died at age 65. Sammy Davis Jr. was part of the Sinatra-led “Rat Pack” that often performed together in Las Vegas shows and in movies. Mrs. Davis died Saturday afternoon (March 14) after being hospitalized on Thursday. She suffered a stroke according to the Los Angeles Times. Altovise met Sammy Davis, Jr. in the mid sixties while the two worked together. The two married on May 11, 1970 in a Philadelphia courthouse presided by Rev. Jesse Jackson. Mrs. Davis spearheaded several philanthropic organizations, including Share Inc., a nonprofit group that raises money for developmentally disabled, abused and neglected children.
Altovise was profiled in a People magazine story in October 1990.
The story shone a spotlight on Davis’ crushing IRS bill and a $2.5 million mortgage on her Beverly Hills home.
People wrote: “According to Altovise, Davis had hoped that the 11-country tour with Frank Sinatra and Liza Minnelli that he launched a year and a half before his death would earn enough to settle his debts. ‘Sammy thought the tour would solve a lot of problems,’ says Altovise. ‘He was very honest about it. Even when he had the throat cancer, we thought he’d get better, get through it and finish the tour.’ ”
Sammy Davis Jr. died from throat cancer on May 16, 1990 – five days after their 20th anniversary.
